Thoughts from a guy named Joe. Simply trying to live life the best way he can.

IS YOUR CUP HALF FULL, OR HALF EMPTY?

It really comes down to perspective. How you look at life and the challenges you perspective on the experience may shape your attitude and your willingness or ability to grow? Perspective is personal and it is likely my perspective and yours may not fully agree.

No matter what your perspective is, the question still remains: Is your glass half full or half empty? Each situation is unique. It’s possible for you to switch between the two polar opposites with regard to this idea. Whether because of a bad moment or bad situation, our outlook, perspective, and general attitude may be heavily connected to our innermost feelings. I know this idea may not agree with your own belief system, education, or experiences, but it does describe my own. Share your thoughts, if you wish. I’d love to hear what your thoughts are.

So, for me, I too often see the glass as half empty. I’m easily distracted from the “good” and often focus on the “bad” when it comes to personal or professional conflict or chaos. That’s not to say that I celebrate the bad, I definitely do not do that. I focus on the bad so I can understand it, as best as possible, and formulate a plan to address and overcome it. It’s how I am wired, and it works for me. (Even if it frustrates my family, friends and work peers)

As you continue on in your own life journey, perhaps you might ask yourself the same question posed in the title of this post. Whatever your answer, be honest and kind to yourself, reflect on your answer, and then take action, if your answer was “half empty.”

Make a plan to change the way you see and perceive life challenges and adversity. Your inner dialogue is just as important, if not more so, than the way you share your thoughts with others. Only you hear your inner dialogue. Reframe your thoughts, in a positive direction. Be mindful of how you share that dialogue. Find the positive in every situation and work to see life through a “cup half full” lense. Refer back to my post on gratitude for additional insight on this.

Moving forward, I hope you and I can lean into these ideas, and concepts. to try to be a little better each day. We are not perfect, but I believe we are good folks. The desire to have a good life is, probably, our greatest commonality. Please try to be a “glass half full” person. I sincerely hope you have a happy day.

I’ve been trying to improve my outlook and pay special attention to positivity. It’s a challenge for an anxious girl.
